DIY Flash Snoot for a Film Noir Effect

Want to spice up your flash game a little bit? Add a little drama by using a homemade snoot!

A snoot is a sort of tunnel for the light to go through that will restrict in all directions except for the exact direction the flash is pointed. To make one, you’ll need the following:

  • Foam or Illustration Board
  • Cutter
  • Black electric or gaffers tape

  1. Using the board, cutter, and tape, make a tube that fits your flash unit perfectly.
  2. Put a slit in front where you can put in the different snoot designs like in the photo below
