DIY Film Canister Rockets

Whether you want to teach your kids the wonders of chemistry or just want to do something interesting while inebriated, this film canister rocket is just what you need!

With these film canister rockets, it’s all about chemistry! You can use it to teach one of the young ‘uns, or play a practical joke on somebody. Sounds mean, but it’s oh-so-fun to do! We’d like to caution you though. Make sure you’re a few steps back after you combine the chemicals. We don’t anyone getting injured!

Materials:

  • Film canisters
  • Sodium bicarbonate tablets of Alka Seltzer
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Break the tablet in half (or not), and place it inside a film canister
  2. Place some water inside the canister then immediately cover it with the lid
  3. Take a couple of steps back and wait for the rocket to go up in the air!
