Organising my Camera Collection as if it were a Fine Glassware Collection

Not long ago, I moved and one of the heaviest and most crammed boxes ever was undoubtedly the one with my cameras and accessories. While unpacking and organizing my analogue treasures I discovered a great way of keeping them organised and safe. Do you want to know how?

I can assure you that my camera collection has grown a lot since I took this photo. When organizing them, I add the accessories, and it gets trickier. My dream is to have a room with a beautiful shelf where I can put them all, as if it were an exhibition, with another shelf below it and drawers for the accessories. Oh dear! (sigh). Something like this would also do:

Since it is not possible yet and houses have a certain size, we have to find alternatives.

Thanks to my house-moving I discovered a fantastic way of organizing them without occupying much space: as if they were glassware pieces! Oh, yes! Upon unpacking the glasses – they were super protected since they are very fragile – I thought, Here is how I can keep all my cameras! After some time I was able to confirm that it works.

They are organised, I can easily take them, I see them all, choose whichever I want, and when putting them back they have their place there, waiting for them. Wicked! On top of this you can store in those boxes folders with negatives or whatever you like. The cardboard structure that separates the baccarat glasses is quite strong and will withstand the weight.

I never had my analogue treasures so nicely organised. If you think it is useful, try it, it is a great solution. And do not forget to put a silica gel bag to keep fungi and humidity away from your beloved cameras and lenses!

And you, how do you keep your cameras?

I love this - I too am in a very small shared apartment - this will be perfect as you can still show them off with the top view - thank you for sharing!

A fancy improvement might be to create small "lids" for every camera and glue the logo, if available. Just a fancy thing, not really a usability improvement, but might be nice no? :)
