How to Save Your Money and Films with 72 Lomographs in 1 Roll with LC-Wide

What will you do if your finger feels itchy for shooting, but you only have a roll and an LC-Wide ? Find out the answer after the jump!

Summer is coming and so are the holidays. My exams are finished and more spare time is coming. This new schedule made adi_totp ask me to go out for a Lomo-walk almost everyday! haha. But films are getting more scarce and getting more expensive these days even though our passion for shooting is getting bigger and bigger!

So i tried a little experiment with my LC-Wide. As we all know, LC-Wide has the capability to do half-frame shots. It means you can shoot 72 times if you use a 36 exposures film.
But most of us use this half-frame technique as an ordinary half-frame Lomograph, or an overlapped panoramic Lomograph. And then i thought to myself, why don’t use the half-frame technique to do normal photos?

What you have to do :

1. Put the half-frame mask to your LC-Wide before you put the film inside.
2. Set the LC-Wide to HF mode. The HF mode knob is in the bottom side of your LC-Wide.
3. Set your lens cover to half-frame mode also.

Shooting technique :

1. For horizontal result, you have to shoot the LC-Wide vertically.
2. For vertical result, you have to shoot the LC-Wide horizontally.
3. Or just shoot! We will love your result anyway.

Scanning technique :

To get a normal-look photo, you have to scan each half. If you scan it like usual, you will get a usual half-frame photo with the line in the middle.
I set the scanner to 3600dpi , and the photos look great for me.

If you don’t have a scanner, I think you have to ask the good guy in your photo lab to scan it manually and tell him what result you are trying to get. And please say thank you to him because there are 72 photos that he has to scan!

So that’s it! The result may not be as wide as a normal LC-Wide shot, but it will save your money, your film, and of course that itchy feeling in your finger!

You can see some of my shots ( and please give me some love! ): here

Thank you for reading, and Happy shooting!
