Filter Holder + Filter for the La Sardina

I bought a filter set with lots of different colors a time ago. Mainly for a flash and the gray for a neutral density filter. But now I use a couple of different colors to hold in front of the lens.

I take these colors for the experiment:

First, I built a dummy with an old plastic satchel.

You need:

  • color foil (e.g. from LEE)
  • strong paper (or a plastic satchel)
  • scissors
  • adhesive tape

First you cut out two pieces of paper. One with the dimensions of 2.7 × 15.7 cm (1.05 × 6,13 inch) and the second 0.7 × 15.7 cm (0,27 × 6,13 inch).

You put them together with tape to two circles.

Then you attach to the bottom the two rings over a width of about 4 cm (1.6 inch), so you’ve got a simple filter holder. Only to change the distance you need to remove the filter but you don’t take off the holder.

I built out of the same paper a little bag where the filter fit in, and the filter too even if you fold it. He is no longer as nice and round but does his job well.

Now to the results. The order of the filter colors is from left to right in the picture with the color filters at the top (they are numbered).

color filter 1+2
color filter 2
color filter 2 + 3
color filter 3 + 4
color filter 4 + 5
color filter 7
color filter 7 + 8
color filter 1 + 8

The same filter holder I made for my Diana Mini.

The results:

So you can do on simple color film different color effects. I shot on the DM Paradies (similiar to a Kodak) 400 iso with the La Sardina and 200 with the Diana Mini.

If you want to make it only in a certain color look at my tipster where i made a neutral density filter. You can do it with the color you want.
Look here.

Have fun experimenting.
