LomoKino Holiday Shooting Tips

With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are starting to get our analogue gear ready for some Holiday shooting. Is the LomoKino included in your lomo-arsenal this Holiday season? If so, you might find these quick tips useful for your cheery Christmas analogue movies!

1. Shoot with a Holiday-themed backdrop or scenery.

Are you going somewhere snowy this Holiday season? Well, you better take advantage of the Winter Wonderland scenery and take the LomoKino with you! Film your family or friends frolicking in the snow, and making snowmen or snow angels!

If you’re far from snowy towns, not to worry, you have many options for Holiday-themed sceneries! Amusement parks, shopping districts, and other local spots are most likely fully decorated for the Yuletide season, so they are all good options!

2. Use Holiday-themed props for a LomoKino photobooth!

If you’re thinking of using the LomoKino as a unique photobooth for your Christmas parties, you will also need to use props! It’s fine to use For example, nothing says “Merry Christmas” better than Santa Claus hats (or even masks, wigs, and costumes!), wrapped gift boxes, and Christmas lights! Pass them around, wear them, play with them, and pick them up when the LomoKino starts rolling!

3. Use redscaled films and slide films.

We all know why this is a tip worth trying—redscale films produce warm red/yellow/orange tones and there are some slide films that are known to shift towards green-ish hues. Give your LomoKino films a touch of these vibrant colors and see how they can paint your videos with an extra festive feel!

4. Include snippets of your Holiday activities.

Your Holiday LomoKino film doesn’t have to be about the sights and parties all the time, you can also do a montage of your Holiday activities as well! Consider shooting some “behind the scenes” like setting up the decorations for your home or office, a friend wrapping presents, or mom cooking the sumptuous Christmas dinner!

5. Finish your Holiday LomoKino movie with a Christmas-y tune!

Of course, the soundtrack is just as important as your film, so pick one that best goes along your LomoKino movie!
