Doubles with Portuguese Pavement

Portuguese pavements can be found in the four corners of the world, so don't worry, you don't have to visit my country to try this tipster!

Double exposures with patterns are absolutely beautiful to me. The pattern I use more often is the “Calçada Portuguesa”, the typical Portuguese pavement you can find everywhere in Lisbon. It is made mostly of white squared stones, but the most popular are the ones that mix black stones in beautiful drawings.

Making the typical “Calçada Portuguesa” is considered to be an art and the Portuguese seem to have left a piece of it everywhere they have been. You can find it in several countries in Africa and Europe, in Brazil and even as faraway as Macau! So, look carefully in your home town, maybe you can try this tipster even living far from Portugal.

Alicante, Spain.

There is something very important when shooting “Calçada Portuguesa”, specially when living in a sunny place like myself – the white stones reflect the light and tend to overexpose pictures. When using my LC-A, I set the ISO to a higher value than the film loaded when I want to double expose white Portuguese pavement on a sunny day.

Actually, there is no reason to stay just in the double exposures. Multiple expose it, split it, play with it! Portuguese pavement always looks good! ;)

Most of my pictures are taken in Lisbon. What about you, do you have pictures of “Calçada Portuguesa”? Let’s make a worldwide gallery, show us yours!

This is a really great idea! I will try it for sure here in Amsterdam, there's a lot of stone-pavimented streets and squares! Good job @saidseni !
