Want to turn your color film into a redscale one? In less than two minutes you can turn your roll into one!

For transformation of the spool, here are the requirements:
- Scissors
- Tape
- A roll of color negative
- An empty roll
For starters, make sure the empty spool still has a few inches of film out of the housing. With one or two centimeters, it should be enough film. If you have empty rolls at home, you can use them. If not, you can order from your usual lab. You’ll probably get a lot.
Take the new roll, and with scissors, cut the narrow part of the film..
Put two rolls on the table as indicated in the photos. Thus with the roll you will see that one of the rolls is reversed to the other. You will see the dark side of one of them matches the lightest part of the other.
Now just connect the two reels of film with a bit of tape. Make sure the tape is well stuck to the film to avoid brown fuss. Pay special attention to this step if you are using a camera feed and automatic rewind and want to keep the film off of the housing … (I tell you from experience hee hee hee)
,
Join a completely dark room and rolled the film into housing that was empty. Presto! Already have turned the film!
Cut with scissors to separate the two film reels. If you leave an inch of film on the reel which is now empty, it will serve to make your next redscale.
To finish your film cuts redscale home for the tab to load the film in the camera.
Here’s a sample of some photos taken with homemade redscale film.
What if a roll spin tests used and shot again? Here are some examples:
I hope I have been helpful!

I love to make my own redscale too. I do it by pulling out the whole negative, doing a little fold, and taping it before winding it back in.
This way sounds very good but I get paranoid the tape might come undone. Lol
