Mad films - Playing with Lemons, Vinegar, Soap, and Fujicolour

Have you ever taken a glass of water and mixed in everything you had under your sight? Well, what if you put in your film as well?

Well, playing with films is something I’ve always wanted to do and finally I did it! I’ve surfed the net looking for help and inspiration, but as analogue photography is not an exact science, I found thousands of different ‘experiments’. Lemons, alcohol, vinegar, soap, dishwasher… too many ideas!

That’s why I decided to mix.

All I’ve done is fill a big pot with warm water, soap, vinegar and lemon juice, then put my new Fujicolour 200 ISO film in the pot for one hour, and shaking it every 10 minutes! After the first funny part, there’s the long and boring part when I had to let the film canister dry off for a week. I put it in front of my window, so that during the day the sun could help me dry it.

Some people say that If you’re in a rush take it into a completely blacked out room and use a hair dryer to dry it off. But I had enough time, so I waited with the power the Summer sun and then just started shooting!

Well that’s it. And this is what came out :)

Whole Album

…next time, maybe coffee !

    Very dreamy.

I've tried one in whiskey but when drying it lots of purple dye has came out the bottom. Hopefully it won't have totally stripped the film!
