DIY Camera Case for the Diana Mini

4

Right now I’m just in craft fever making camera bags. As always, I’m afraid for my beauties in my big pockets, that’s perfectly. This time it’s about a bag for the Diana Mini.

Since my La Sardina Felt was well received, I am now sharing with everyone a little Tipster for making a Diana Mini camera bag!

You will need:

  • Felt in a color of your choice (my bag is pink and about 2.5 mm thick, would not take it thin!)
  • Scissors
  • Wool in a color of your choice (in my turquoise and pink ribbon for Use)
  • Snaps and normal buttons
  • Sewing thread in color of the felt
  • Sewing needle and embroidery needle
  • Ruler

I have measured the Diana Mini again to make a dummy made of paper, to see how the whole thing work at best. I wanted to make sure that I can take off the front of the camera case from the bottom, just as with old camera bags.

The lower part of the camera bag can be done quickly. I’ve also made sure that all the levers and so on are uncovered, so that they can still be operated well. The shutter button fits over the felt, so I had no problem with it.

The difficulty was rather: How do I keep the bag firmly on my camera, yet can be easily removed to change the film? Eventually, I came up with the idea, to just make a braided band of wool to create a connection and fix it with a button.

In the end, I made the whole hood to stow in the pocket. Below are some snaps of the bag that I sewed with the thread in the color of the felt.

As a practical touch, the back of the case can fit a small pencil and a printed table from this tipster.

Have fun crafting!
