Do you like stop motion movies? Let me show you how to use your multi-lens camera to make a fun stop motion film!
I’ve always been fond of the Stop Motion technique. But before the LomoKino made its debut how could I? Simple! I used my beloved multilens!
What to do
Find a subject. Have them do anything, even the most stupid. The important thing is to have fun!
If you want to make panoramic pictures, move your camera horizontally or vertically. Or do not move!
Go close or far from your subject. Or turn around it!
Use some color filters. I used filters of Diana’s flash. I put them over the lens and I fix them with scotch tape.
Now, let’s see how many frames we can get with different machines and how many seconds of video. I usually set the duration of a single frame of 0.25 seconds.
36 poses film: 36 × 4 = 144 frames
144 × 0.25 = 36 seconds
24 poses : 24 × 4 = 96 frames
96 × 0.25= 24 seconds
36 poses film: 36 × 8 = 288 frames
288 × 0.25 = 72 seconds
Pop9 , instead, is more suitable for making animated gifs. Take a person with aenough rich background and you’ll get a “fake” 3D image!
I have an HP scanner and the only thing that I found in its software is able to select multiple pictures and then send the scan. So I can do other things while scans! I usually scan the entire picture and then I copy the files and the various cropping frames. The resolution is not too high, but it depends on how long you want to lose.
I use iMovie. First of all I import the photos into iPhoto. I open iMovie, create a new project. I immediately set the format/proportion to 4:3 (standard). I open the project properties (Cmd + J) and select photos on the initial position “to match the frame.” Better do it now, otherwise it must be changed frame by frame. To enter the pictures, again from iMovie, open iPhoto then select and drag the photos to be included. Right-click on any set time frame and select apply to all photos.
The choice of soundtrack is very important. Try different songs and choose what you like and that is best matched to the video. I prefer songs with fast rhythms.
You can also enter text in your video.
Once you’ve done all this, you must export your movie and watch in order to share with other programs!
Here are some videos that I made this! For any other questions just ask!
