Turning My LC-A+ a Deep Red

Learn about how I got the crazy idea of turning my LC-A+ camera into a deep red color. Want to have a red LC-A+ too? Read on for the instructions!

I know many people will shout “Oh my God” , the purists, those who worship the cameras as they leave the factory and, frankly, I understand, you have to be a little crazy for doing certain things.

Anyway, for me, since It came into my life, thanks to antea, my LC-A + has become an inseparable friend. Soon after, for nearly a year, I was going so sad because my camera could not “focus” any case, no far no near … in fact, I was about to forget it, leaving abandoned in a corner of my photographic collection and gradually forget it. It would have been a terrible mistake.

As I say, you have to be a little crazy for doing certain things but, thanks to that, sometimes, we come up with “macabre” ideas . Anyway, as I had given up my camera I thought, what if disarmed? and I did …. the fact is that I realized, when he was gutting the poor LC-A+, the lens was badly assembled because of an incorrectly set screw, the objective was not where It had to get , there was not a focus for indicating distances lever. Well, something as simple as unscrewing … adjust … and screw again to made my dearest little camera reborn. When I saw the first photos taken after the work, joy came over me. My LC-A+ had a second chance.

Well, all this stuff to say my camera is red. Here we are, once you’ve opened Pandora’s box, you have to move on. I’m handyman, I like to change, experiment and find new ways to express myself and, of course, my beautiful camera had to accompany me so, I decided to change its image.

I was always attracted a lot of LC-A + Russia Day Edition 2012, then, inspired in it but giving my own personal touch, I bought red leather, a can of red paint as used to do graffiti and prepared to make a new “surgical intervention” that required more care and love. The new skin was pasted using white glue, a product found in stationery stores.

After all these processes, once the paint dries the “cap” outside, I bought sandpaper, the finer I found, and got old its appearance.

As I say, many people these things have seemed a sacrilege, but if we look at it coldly, if I hadn´t to dare to investigate what happened with my camera, now would be forgotten in a corner and it would be a very big mistake .
