Rule #2 of the 10 Golden Rules urges us to shoot day or night; and might I add, indoor as much as outdoor. Here are a few things that you might want to consider when shooting in malls!
We Filipinos, are suckers for malls! In Metro Manila alone, there are countless establishments to go to. Not that everyone likes to shop a lot; a good number of us go to malls just to pass the time or to enjoy looking at things we really cannot afford. Of course, those who can afford, do buy, too. Given a choice between a park or a mall, a typical Filipino will most likely choose the mall. In a humid tropical country such as ours, parks can drain you with the temperature alone.
While most lomographers want to shoot outside, this one actually does enjoy shooting indoors. So, what sorts of stuff can you photograph inside a mall? Here’s few…
There are lots of mirrors inside a mall! Comfort rooms, the beverage section, fitting rooms, just to name a few. And when there are mirrors, of course, there are self-portraits.
Malls are typically adorned with creative light designs. Shoot those!
Every shop has its own sign. Take a photo of them; then double it with another layer. Great stuff!
It’s not that difficult to look for colorful stuff inside the mall that you can take a photo of!
