How to Mount Your Diana Lens to Any SLR

Want to use your Diana lenses on your other cameras but there is no existing mount converter? Why not make it yourself? All you need are three things that you probably have lying around!

I was browsing through some DIY photography projects and couldn’t find any mount converter for the Diana because as of the moment it is only available in Lomography shops. Then, I started to think that the diameter of a toilet paper roll is almost the same as a Diana lens. To my surprise, when I tested it, the lens fit perfectly like a glove.

Try it! When you’re done, you will have something that will look like this:

Things needed:

*Body cap for the camera you’re going to use
*Toilet paper roll
*Hot glue

I started experimenting with the length of the tube and found that 1.7cm is about right for my camera, Canon AE-1. (Measurement could be different with other cameras)
So, I cut out the proper length of the toilet paper roll and drilled some holes in the body cap. I also removed some plastic. As a result:

Next, I used hot glue to put everything together. (Reminder: DO NOT glue the lens into the mount)
It should look something like this:

TIP: Paint the toilet paper roll before gluing to prevent it from becoming wet.

I hope this will work out for you too.

Nice! The softness of the Diana lens with the aspect of your canon! I have an AE-1 and a Diana lens...time for some making I think!
