Can't find the perfect bag to keep and carry your favorite camera? Do you find all designs too simple and boring? Why don't you go for it and make your own totally unique and customized bag!
The reason I decided to make my own bag for my Diana F+ was because I wasn’t totally sure about the only bag I found in the market (“Diana Ready To Shoot”). Due to the fact that you don’t need to take the camera out of it to take pictures, it covers the funniest part of my Diana F+ Mr. Pink.
I thought I would make my own bag that I can customize to my taste and would end up being unique. Besides, I study Fine Arts and I love doing crafts! So the idea of having a fun time motivated me even more to make this bag.
The only materials I needed were:
- Thin cardboard (1.5mm)
- Cutter
- Ruler
- Foam (on any colors you prefer)
- Cyanoacrylate (Super Glue)
- “Velcro” (or buttons, or anything you can think of to keep your bag closed!)
If you decide to make it… some piece of advice:
You have to keep in mind that the bag must be a few millimeters bigger than the camera, because the inside will be lined with foam (which is about 2mm thick) to protect your camera and keep it safe. It shouldn’t be too tight so you can put your camera in and take it out easily. You will have to line the inside of the bag before gluing the parts of the frame together.
When you have the bag frame perfectly mounted on the cardboard and lined with the foam, this is where the real fun begins by creating your own design with the foam of the colors you prefer. This material is very easy to cut and you will be able to make a unique design smoothly.
I also decided to make a bag for the flash of my Diana F+. I just added a strip behind so I can hook it with another strip and some velcro to the camera bag. Now, it’s so easier to carry everything together.
