Double Exposing With the Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim and the Actionsampler

When i bought by Vivitar Ultra wide and slim, i realised that it can't take 'double exposures' like the Diana F+ could! So i shot a roll with it, rewound it, fished the film leader out again, and reloaded it into my friend's Actionsampler!

The results came out pretty unexpected. The Vivtar UWS actually shoots the roll of film the upside down. So you can flip the picture over and see the second picture the right way up! The two cameras also didn’t shoot on the exact same spot of film, so some images got cut in half.

What you will need:

  • A vivitar UWS
  • A roll of film. (i used 400 iso, because it’s great for sunlight and shade because both cameras don’t have a flash)
  • A bit of extra negatives (cut one out from your negatives of your previous develpoed shots. Something that came out blank.)
  • Double sided tape
  • An Actionsampler

1. First part is simple! Just load your movie into your vivtar and shot an entire roll. Once you’re done rewind it and remove it from you camera. If a bit of the film leader is still sticking out, you can skip the next step. If it’s gone back into the canister, you need to fish it out!

2. Use your double sided tape and extra bit of negatives to fish out your film leader using this method. It’s a video so it’s real simple to follow.

3. Reload you film on an Actionsampler and re-shoot your roll of film. Once it’s finished rewind it and send it for developing!

You can check out the whole roll of film that i got over here

Give it a go!

The Actionsampler Chrome snaps up a series of four images on one 35mm print. This multilens camera records your subject’s movement and is now coated in sleek silver. See it with the rest of our Multilens cameras here!

Great doubles! Haha, I'd probably shoot the vivtar upside down to save my sanity when I see the results.
