Instant Splitzer for your beloved Diana Mini

After some months spent in the analog photography world, I finally realized what a SPLITZER was. Unfortunately, I saw that a splitzer for my beloved Diana Mini hasn't been invented yet. So I tried to used my brain and, in pure analog style, I invented one by myself!

As i’m pretty new to this DIY way to see the world, this tipster is really easy to realize. You just need the followng materials:

1. A cutter
2. Some canister caps (not just one! experiment more than one shape!)
3. Two or three instants of your time (depending on your manual ability!)

And this is the way you have to procede:

Take the cutter and start cutting the canister cap, just making a little pressure on it. This kind of plastic is really soft and it feels like cutting a piece of butter! You can cut a half or just a quarter, even stripes or circles… we have no rules!

When you’re satisfied with your shape, turn the canister cap on the back side and trim the hedges. This part is not essencial but i suggest to do it, just to have a more precise and defined splitzer.

When you’ve finshed this part, simply fix the canister-cap-splitzer on your Diana Mini lens. Just making a little pressure, it will fit perfectly in between the focus and the external part of the lens (precisely, where the writing “diana mini” is).

I remind you that this tipster works just with the gray canister caps, as the one that you can see in the pics. Don’t worry, they’re really easy to find: for example, these are the canister for Kodak 400 and Lomography film too.

So, here you are some pictures i took with the instant splitzer and my beloved Diana Mini:

That’s it! Hasn’it it took just two minutes of your life?! Now go go go! Take that canister you were about to throw away, cut it and… shoot shoot shoot!

The Diana Mini is the ultra-compact, petite version of the Diana F+. This camera takes soft-focused, lo-fi images in 35mm and allows you to change between half-format and square shots with a flick of a switch. Get your own Diana Mini now!
