Sticky Shutter = Nice Results!

My camera shutter is sticky... Should I throw it out with the garbage? Leave it on the shelf to gather dust? Or donate it to a museum? No way! Keep it for yourself and go out to take some shots! Expect the unexpected!

A couple of weeks ago I went on a holiday trip. I took three cameras with me: two in 35mm format and one in 120mm format. The 120mm one was an Agfa Isolette V.

During the trip I noticed that something went wrong with my Agfa. The shutter kept on getting stuck, and the shutter blades opened and closed really slowly. Since the Agfa’s shutter mechanism is as simple as the Smena 8m ’s, it is possible to open the shutter blades just by moving the shutter load lever, so that’s what I did.

I thought it was going to be just a waste of film, but still I decided to sacrifice one roll to see the results. And I love them! How about you, what do you think?

Don’t think that your camera is useless if it has a sticky shutter, as you can still get some nice results by experimenting with it. By the way, sticky shutter failure does not affect long exposure shots. Just have a look at this beauty:

The Lomo Smena 8m is a classic mid-80s icon dug deep from LOMO factory. Its 3-element glass Triplet lens yields eye-popping colour and contrast, and its manual settings gives you full control over your images. Get your hands on this piece of photographic history here.

Just take the Electra 112 to repair shop for CLA. The only problem with it is the Soviets lubed cameras with axle grease. It's excellent camera... http://www.lomograph(…)rangefinder
