Lomography

On a rainy Friday morning, I had nothing much to do. So, I decided that I would give my Actionsampler a makeover!

I’m sure all of you know that after some time, your plain old camera just doesn’t look so great anymore.

A quick remedy for that is a paint job!

Here’s what you’ll need:
Acrylic paints (It’s waterproof too!)
Your camera
Different sizes of brushes
Something to paint on/over

There’s lots of different ways that you can paint your camera. You don’t have to do exactly what I’m doing – you can make your own designs. But here are the basics for painting your camera:

1. Paint a fairly thick layer of paint over the entire body of the camera. Don’t be afraid to waste paint because you don’t want it to be scratched off easily!

2. You can paint it messy, neatly, squiggly or however you like!

3. For my camera, I wanted to make it a creature thing. So, I painted a dark blue ring around the raised part of the camera; the “gums.” Then, I used a thin angled brush to paint the sharp, white teeth. Don’t forget to do the top and bottom rows of teeth! And then, you can paint in nostrils if you like. Mine look a bit like eyes…

4. If you like it like that, you can leave it just the way it is! I wanted some sort of pattern on the rest of it so I made circular “scales” all over the Actionsampler.

5. And that’s about it! If you accidentally painted over anything, don’t worry! Acrylics dry fast and they layer really well. You won’t be able to see the layer underneath if you decide to paint over the whole thing again. You can paint your camera over and over as many times as you like!
