Ever thought of numbering your frames from 1 to 36? Why not run the roll of film through once and a second time looking for "numbers" to tag your pictures!
While I was running out of ideas/inspirations for what to shoot due to my boring research student life, an idea strike me one day. To number my photos with a double exposure shot.
10 Simple steps to follow follows:
1) Set your ISO 1 stop under ie. Film 200iso rated, set camera as 400iso film loaded.
2) Draw a line using a marker pen across the film aligned to the certain edges to label the beginning of your roll
3) Finish your roll in excitement
4) Rewind your film and align the line drawn previously to the same edge for your double attempt
5) Shoot some nice doubles on the first few frames and stop when your frame counter points to #1
6) The real fun begins!
7) Look for numbers, eg. traffic light counters, posters, road markings, etc. that coincides with your frame counter number
8) Spend a whole lot of time (and fun) getting numbers 1… to 36 from various sources
9) Finish the last few exposures with equally nice doubles as per first few frames.
10) Send it to the lab, keep your fingers crossed and prepare to be filled with surprises!
It took me almost a month to finish my roll on the Cosina CX-1 loaded with Agfa CT. Not all 36 frames came up well, but some were really nice nonetheless.
Try it! Its fun!
