The cinema was a natural evolution of photography. Getting a sense of movement was something to slow in coming, but turned out to be a very simple, just had to do many consecutive snapshots of the same action, to achieve the effect. Film cameras do that, a movie pass through a lens at 24 frames per second, using cans of film. And that is the question, if a second capture 24 frames per second, that we mean that a normal roll of 24 photographs to give us one second of moving image. If instead of using 24 frames per second, went down to limit the effect, about 15 frames per second, it allows us to reach almost two seconds with a roll of 24 … is something, but still little … and behold DianaMini comes into play and their ability to use half of a frame, getting more than 70 photographs, which average 15 frames per second …gives us almost 5 seconds of moving image … that’s something!

So what we will use our Mini Diana to go taking pictures in a row, HalfFrame mode of action of our interest. In this example we make some StopMotion and we will encourage a young lady who moves without walking through the park … ;) The StopMotion is based on the photo-shot (which is what we have done) with slight modifications between shots, which is what will then the sensation of movement. So what will our young will move little by little, and sit still when we had take the picture … and so, again and again, photo to photo.

Well to start we need only two things, the spool of the target scanned into the computer, and a little knowledge of photoshop. It is important to note that when scanning the film, this blocked the qualities of color capture escanner to be all homogeneous. Also, besides our own experience is much faster to scan the film into strips, then cut the frames separately in the computer, that go frame by frame scanning. It is also important to note that all frames should have the same size in pixels.

Well, we already have all frames scanned into the computer. All the same color temperature and size. Open Photoshop, and use within the file menu, the option Script → Load Files into Stack.

What this is we will load all the frames apart, and keep everything in one file in the form of different layers.

Photoshop take his time, and ended with only one file open, but filled with as many layers as we have done photos.

So in the Window menu, select the Animation.

and voila, it opens a new window where we play rudimentary controls and a picture of our open file. In the upper right side of the window click on the option menu, and select Create frames from layers:

So we’ll see how Photoshop creates new paintings with each layer containing the file. Most likely we need now to reverse the order of the frames. In the same menu as before, Investing pictures …

And that’s it! … we only select the first frame and press the Shift key to select also the last to have them all selected and click on any of them down, which puts 0Seg. and change for 0.1 Sec. In the file menu tell it to save it in Web & Devices, select GIF, and make sure that selected the bottom where it says Animation. And ready. We have our DianaMation!! ;)

PS: If at the time of upload files to automatically align stack Trying to align the source images, the photoshop will take some more time in trying to marry spatially different photographs, achieving effects sometimes really curious … ;)
