A fellow film photographer's birthday coming? Need ideas for the coming festive season? Well giving someone a 120film as a gift just got interesting!
Firstly you will need a spare 120 film spool. If you do not have any spare just ask your lab and they be more than happy to give.
1.You’ll need a dark room or dark bag.
2.Transfer the 120 film into an empty spool.( do this in the dark room or in the dark bag)
3.Once done take the empty spool and paste double sided scotch tape on both sides of the spool.
Depending on the mood or occasion, you can choose to use plain paper or wrapping paper. Personally I prefer using plain paper as it gives you more room to be creative.
4.Peel off the double sided scotch tape.
5.Wrap the paper around the spool.
6.Cut a slit in the paper where the slot is located on the spool. Do it for both sides.
(Don’t forget to do this step or else you wont be able to transfer the film back to the spool later on.)
6.Now take your marker pens and get creative. Don’t only decorate the paper, remember the whole spool is your canvas. Feel free to explore. Add sparkles etc.
Once done take the earlier 120film that you’ve transferred and your designed spool into your dark room or dark bag and transfer the film back to the spool that you have designed earlier.
And you’re done.
Give the roll as a birthday gift/christmas gift or just a random gift .
and once that person has finished shooting the roll only then can he/she can see the sweet design that you’ve done for them. Surprise Surprise! It will surely bring a smile to anyone face.

you could also write your message on a blank roll of 120 film and wind it back in the spool. tell your recipient to crack it open.
