Looking for something to do with the novelty "3-D Lazer Fireworks Glasses" you'll find in your Halloween treat bag this year? Make a new lens filter for your favorite Lomo camera!

I picked up a pair of novelty “3-D Lazer Fireworks Glasses” at a party in Hollywood recently. You know the type – we used to get them in goodie bags as kids and they are great for causing double vision and colorful starbursts of when you look directly into a light. I pocketed a pair thinking they might come in handy later.

Not knowing exactly how the pictures would turn out, I cut the plastic film out of one lens, cut a small hole in the center of the plastic and taped it to the front of the lens on my trusty Holga 120 CFN. I was pleasantly surprised with the results! When shooting directly into the sunlight or a spotlight, I caught a fun, bright, rainbow starburst. In lower-light situations with a color flash, I got hazy, atmospheric images with ghostly multiples around the subject.

My least favorite (but still fun!) images of the roll were shot in daylight but not into a direct light source, so the image turned out blurry with multiples and rainbow colors.

Enjoy!
