Fixing a surprising design flaw of the 55mm auxiliary macro lens is easy.
The Diana+ 55mm wide-angle lens comes with a very interesting auxiliary macro lens. They recommend using it outdoors with lots of light, but you should be able to use it with the Ringflash as well. Imagine my surprise to find that you can’t mount the ring flash with the macro lens in place! If you mount the Ringflash first and then try to use the macro lens, it doesn’t work because the 55mm lens is recessed into the flash. Huh? Ringflash works with Diana+. Close-up lens works with Diana+. But, they don’t work together? The fix is easy.
- Cut a strip of sticky hook and loop tape to the appropriate size. Use the fuzzy loop side, not the stiff hook side.
- Stick the fuzzy loop tape around the close-up lens.
- Mount the Ringflash.
- Push the close-up lens into place.
It will stay there from the pressure of the tape.
