Tipster of the Week: 'Tis the Season for Lomo Love!

it's the season where you have to be generous and grant someone's holiday wishlist. By now, maybe you're already halfway on completing your list of gifts to give to your loved ones or worst, you still haven't given it a thought... oh no! Worry not, my dear! Our wacky Tipster got a suggestion for you that might save you!

Send Your Lomolove for the Holidays by kylethefrench

You can create a wonderful holiday images anytime of the year and use it as a nice way to send the season’s greetings to your loved ones!

So you are thinking that you want to make a nice holiday themed photo card for your friends and families yet you don’t have any place to take a holiday picture. Well I say that if you have some flashlights, Colorsplash gels, laserpointer, a camera with a B setting, and a dark place then you are all set!

For conceptualizing this one, I did a few sketches that I wanted to do with the shots. Then, Choosing the colors of the filters I will be using and tape them on top of flashlights. Set some templates on the wall with black electrical tape to help me know where I am light writing stuff. Set up your camera on a tripod. I turn off the lights, open the camera shutter and then I draw the image out, I Colorsplashed my face to put myself into the scene, and then sometimes I use a laser pointer to write a holiday message on the wall. After that you just advance film and prepare for the next frame

You can even write a personalized message like “Elf You Gramma” right into the image. The genius with that is all you do is get a print made, glue it onto a piece of light weight white cardboard, and then write a nice message on the back, pop on mom’s address and a stamp and there you have it! This is a special special creative gift of Lomo to send off to your loved ones. If you don’t feel like making one image for everyone you can also just make one really good image and then bring that to your local photo lab or imaging shop and then can put your image into one of those holiday card templates and then they can make up 50 or 100 cards for you in a jiffy and those are great to send as well!

The whole point is that a special pic like this will let everyone on your holiday greetings list know that you are a creative and a loving hipster who took the time to make them something nice to celebrate the holiday season!
