Mini Macro, Mini Lomo

As I was thinking about how to use the macro lens on my Diana Mini and about what to shoot with it, I saw the Lomo Cameras keychains I just received, and thought it could be interesting to shoot these mini cameras in Diana Mini macro mode!

Mephisto19 already made a tipster about the use of different lenses on the Diana Mini, so it isn’t a new idea. But this tipster is about to shoot in macro mode with the Lomo keychains

For this tip you need:
1) The Diana Mini Camera
2) Macro lens part of the Lomo LC-A tunnelvision lens
3) The little metal-ring to stick on your Diana Mini lens
4) Some Lomo Camera keychains (LC-A+, Diana F+, Fisheye 2 or Lubitel+… I ordered the 4 and unfortunately in the box of the Lubitel+ one came another Fisheye 2, but doesn’t matter… :)

Just stick the metal-ring on your Diana Mini lens, the size is the same and it fits perfectly on the lens. Set the focus distance on the minimum, that means 0,6 m. Then fix the magnetic macro lens on it.

And the most difficult part was to determine the perfect distance in macro mode. I used the method Mandi is talking about in the Holga Bible The World through a plastic Lens (page 103 if you’re searching it in the book…) I opened the camera back, had the lens open in B mode and was holding a cigarette paper at the place of the film, looked towards the strong light of a table lamp and saw that the good distance should be around 2 or 3 cm. Well, you don’t need to test this again as it’s true, seeing the results, that the good focusing distance is around 2-3 cm.

To be sure to have a better sharpness, shoot in the sunny aperture (longer depth of field) and for the light, use a high speed film (I shot with a 400 iso film) and a flashlight to put a strong light on the subject you’re shooting.

Well, when I saw the results i was surprised that all came out so good and was fascinated by this fantastic macro mini world of lomo cameras…. :)))
