I was searching for something in my garage when I found one interesting thing: an old Russian magnifier with a case which looks like a port. In an instant, one crazy thought struck my mind “hey I could use this port to make a bag – Lomo ammunition bag!”. After couple of minutes I made a plan on how can I transform this into a fashionable DIY Lomo bag and now I will show you how it is done!
To realize this plan we will need the following:
- Magnifier case (but here fits any old port)
- A lot of sponge and foam
- Big pack of glue
- sharp blade, pencil, ruler
- and a lot of imagination :)
First thing, what I did was to clean outside and inside of the port and I must say it was a really dirty job. When the port is clean enough, we are ready for a second step.
Take a sponge (foam) and using glue stick separate pieces of it to fill up inside of a port. If you would use one big piece of sponge this would make your job much easier. After sticking the sponge with glue, leave the invention to desiccate for a while. Next up is to have the ruler, pencil and some imagination with you.
I thought about a lot of combinations on how should I put my Lomographic stuff in this bag and after some time I made my choice. I draw those figures/pattern with a pencil and cut them out with a sharp blade. Now if you look a bit closer, you could see that this combination is very universal. Almost all Lomographic cameras will fit in my bag.
Just have a look at those pictures, My Lomo ammunition bag is ready to use! Some of you might say it’s quite big and uncomfortable and it might bother you when you’re just going to take a walk in a park but if your planning for a weekend trip with a car and you want to take more than one camera with you and a backpack is not an option, then this bag would be really helpful!
