  When people hear the word "Brazil" the first thing that comes to their minds is summer, sun, beach, soccer and girls in bikinis. But yes we have winter in the southern half of the country and this is the city to be if you like to enjoy it.

  After a snowstorm passed through New York City I couldn't help but wonder what one of my favorite places looked like buried under white fluffy powder. Braving the cold, I wore three layers, grabbed my LC-A+ and my Diana+ Edelweiss (which felt right at home in the snow!), and went for one of my favorite excursions yet in the big city.

  When the winter and Christmas time comes, you can't imagine it without snow. There's a beautiful place to go in Germany/Bavaria, during winter time: the Bavarian forest ("Bayrischer Wald" and of course it's also a great place during summertime for other activities, see my previous location http://beta.lomography.com/magazine/locations/2008/08/01/hang-gliding-at-the-bchelstein)

  As everywhere in Germany, the December is the great period of the Christmas markets, with various names (Weinachtsmarkt, Christkindlmarkt, etc...) to enjoy this cold period of the year with a lot of lights everywhere, boutiques and many occasions to drink some hot beverages like the Glühwein, Punsch or Feuerzangenbowle....

  Multnomah Falls are located about 20 minutes east of Portland off the 84 freeway. I have been there many times in the Summer and this was the first time I was there in the Winter. It was in the middle of an Arctic Storm so the walls around the falls were completely frozen!

  I like Spain. The people range from muy freaky to muy gentil and it is always a joy talking to them. Additionally they have rather my height than the ones from the Teutonian tribe, which makes it much easier to integrate for me, too. And the country has some exceptional beautiful spots offside the normal touristic routes - off the record. Quite a while ago I have been to Tossa de Mar, which lays a one and a half hour cardrive away from Barcelona.

  Winter is back in the Big Apple. From the black snow mountains on every corner, to the hordes of shoppers barrelling down 5th Avenue like bulls in Pomplona, to the taxis speeding through red lights faster than Rudolf on Sicilian espresso, there is nothing like the urban wonderland of a New York City winter.

  Nestled in the heart of the RIla mountains you will find Beli-Iskar. A sleepy village with a population of about 900. We were in the area with a friend so he took around the village and the local area. If you go in winter its cold.........REALLY COLD!!! When we were there it was about -20 degrees Celsius and when I got out the car I got the same brain freeze sensation I get when I eat ice cream, just without the ice cream.
