by champi
posted 8 months ago
3 comments and 5 votesThe ex Fiat/Teksid steel plate production plants, situated in the northern part of Turin, were definitely closed in 1992 and then partially destroyed. Still standing though are the "red giants", the huge steel columns which were once the structure of the factory.

2 comments and 2 votesRoad Trip to the Chilean border in the state of Mendoza, Argentina. Last year I lived for six months in Argentina and the most exciting trip I took was to Mendoza especially the road trip towards the Chilean border. I expected a nice little trip but was positively surprised by the fascinating landscapes of Mendoza.

Winter at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

by migueld

one comment and 1 voteAfter a snowstorm passed through New York City I couldn't help but wonder what one of my favorite places looked like buried under white fluffy powder. Braving the cold, I wore three layers, grabbed my LC-A+ and my Diana+ Edelweiss (which felt right at home in the snow!), and went for one of my favorite excursions yet in the big city.

Winter in the bavarian forest, Cham

7 comments and 1 voteWhen the winter and Christmas time comes, you can't imagine it without snow. There's a beautiful place to go in Germany/Bavaria, during winter time: the Bavarian forest ("Bayrischer Wald" and of course it's also a great place during summertime for other activities, see my previous location http://beta.lomography.com/magazine/locations/2008/08/01/hang-gliding-at-the-bchelstein)

Mud hiking

by jogintas
posted about 1 year agoMountains are adventurers best friends, right? If you go there in winter, you can have a loads of snow, skiing tours and so on. If you travel there in summer, hiking, climbing and things like that are all your options. But if you, like me, go there during the first days of the spring, you can get into a very difficult to judge situation.

Beli-Iskar

2 commentsNestled in the heart of the RIla mountains you will find Beli-Iskar. A sleepy village with a population of about 900. We were in the area with a friend so he took around the village and the local area. If you go in winter its cold.........REALLY COLD!!! When we were there it was about -20 degrees Celsius and when I got out the car I got the same brain freeze sensation I get when I eat ice cream, just without the ice cream.

one comment and 1 voteThe real Adventure starts on the ice. I got engaged in the scouting club of the lycey in Novgorod named “Utka”, the little duck. Every winter they planned a skiing-trip on the very beautiful lake Ilmen which could be reached by the river Volkhov, which passed by our lycey The Ilmen is surrounded by a dozen beautiful monasteries and is one of the prettiest hotspots I have seen so far.

Vienna at Christmas Time

by vicuna
posted about 1 year agoWhen I was first discovering Vienna 9 years ago it was around Christmas Time. I was very happy to stay there, of course, but coming from Nice, on the Cote d'Azur, where the winter temperature is nevre going under 10°, I was a little bit surprised of the cold and wet weather in Austria during this season.
