Placerville Wineries, California

by jblaze823
posted 9 months ago
2 votesIn the fall of 2008, my family and I decided to visit two wineries in Placerville, CA. These two wineries offered a wonderful experience for everyone. They were both very accommodating, served fantastic wines, and offered beautiful surrounding views. The first winery we visited was the Boeger Winery. It was the bigger and older of the two that we visited. It had a big old building on the grounds which used to be where they processed and bottled the wines, but now it used as one their two small tasting rooms.

Camps Bay side, Cape town

by neja

3 comments and 4 votesIf you are ever in Cape town, and it happens to be a foggy day, and you have no car, here is what you can do. Start in City or Bo-Kaap, go up Kloof Nek Road. It 's always up, about an hour or so, but it's quite picturesque road full of beautiful residential houses, parks and real Chocolate Factory (worth stopping at it's shop for real local made dark chocolate).

Matterhorn

one commentIt's the most beautiful mountain you can find on this planet, at least that's my humble opionion about the Matterhorn and well the chocolate business also stealed it's shape to make the famous and jummy chocolate bar Toblerone. Now you are stunned, or maybe you already knew that. Well anyways everytime I am in Zermatt I have to take tons of shots of that mountain.

Medieval village of Sainte Agnes

by vicuna
posted about 1 year agoThis little village is a rare photographic, historic and romantic spot on the Cote d'Azur. Sainte Agnes has the official title of the "highest coastal village of Europe"!! Indeed, it's only 3 km far from the sea and 800m high, so you got a great point of view about the whole coast of Menton (also very nice little old town...) and the beginning of Italy, and the pre-alps mountains (Mercantour parc, great place too...) behind you. An old castle (mostly in ruins) is on the top of the mountain and was built at the beginning of the 14th century with the village just below. It was a main place to control the coast and to see quickly the enemies approaching from all around. Between 1932 and 1938 a military base of the "ligne Maginot" was built inside the mountain (it was part of the defensive line between France and Germany and Italy) with big artillery towards the sea and Italy!! Nowadays it's empty and you can visit it without problems, very interesting :)

Silvretta-Bielerhoehe track

by agrimony

2 votesSilvretta-Hochalpenstrasse-Bielerhoehe. The Silvretta-Hochalpenstrasse is one of the most favored and beautiful mountain roads of the Austrian Alps. It connects the Montafon in Vorarlberg with the Paznauntal in Tyrol. The highest pint is Bielerhoehe in 2030 m sea level. There you can find lots of possibilities to spend your time. The simplest one is to sit down in the restaurant Silvrettasee with its amazing view over the Silvretta Lake. A very special one is to make a boat tour on the Silvretta Lake with the motorboat. It is Europe's one and only motorboat traffic in over 2000m sea level.
