Ilford XP2 (35mm, 400 iso) user-review

5 comments and 5 votesTwo films in one! Firstly the bad news: This is not a black and white film for purists who love the deep black and the clean white. But there is also good news: it can be developed in C41-process! Therefore the development of this film is as affordable as the one of colour films!

Ilford Pan F+ (35mm, 50 iso) User-Review

8 comments and 6 votesDarks as black as the strongest coffee and whites as bright as new fallen snow. I used the 35mm version of Ilford Pan F+, ISO 50 and achieved the greatest contrast ever! This is one film that delivers very true blacks and whites.

7 comments and 8 votesWhen I started photography 12 years ago, I asked a photographer friend what b&w I should use to have good shots... he answered "HP5". What was the meaning of this "code"??? That's how I discovered this great classic b&w film by Ilford who never left me since until to this very day.

The Angel of the North, UK

by oldskool_rider

6 commentsFor many years i have traveled that same road while going to visit relatives in the north of England, always passing familiar landmarks, but none as familiar as this. The Angel of the North, designed by Antony Gormley stands at the top of the hill next to the A1 on the outskirts of Gateshead, Newcastle. At least 90,000 motorists a day pass by this 208 tonne angel as it welcomes them to "the North". Its wings are 54 meters wide (similar to a jumbo jet), so not seeing this landmark is not an option for those who pass by. She also marks the spot where (below her) coal miners worked for over 200 years.

one commentIt is not easy to find a good black and white film in my country, especially the 120 ones. However, I am lucky enough to joined a photography exhibition in Kuala Lumpur last month and stumbled upon various shots made with this film and it was love at first sight, so I bought some rolls of Ilfords back home.
