Digbeth: Broken but Beautiful

by lomat
posted about 1 month ago
3 comments and 4 votesI travel through Digbeth everyday on my way to work; it was the first centre of industry in Birmingham and became one of the most heavily industrialised areas in the town. But now it is all falling apart, most of the factories and warehouses are empty, so this makes a great place to take my Mini Diana on her first trip out!

3 comments and 5 votesThe ex Fiat/Teksid steel plate production plants, situated in the northern part of Turin, were definitely closed in 1992 and then partially destroyed. Still standing though are the "red giants", the huge steel columns which were once the structure of the factory.

6 comments, 12 submissions, and 2 votesWith the economic production coming to a little stop due to the crisis we shouldn't forget that now more than ever it will important to Proust real things instead of financial dreams. And to do real things, almost all real things, you will need Titan. A base of almost every industrial product. A resource that is found largely in the Ukraine. I have been to such a mine and factory: Moonwalk reloaded!

5 commentsI can't remember how many times I passed in front of this abandoned factory with my car, insulting myself for not having a camera with me to take a few shots of this awesome piece of architecture... Till the day I said come on, I have to go there and shoot! So I took my bag with a few cameras and drove to the factory!

In its day it was a real pioneer in electricity generation. Today, almost a century since it was built, the power station has again taken on innovative aspects and a prominent position as an Electricity Museum.

Brach’s Candy Factory

posted about 1 year ago
1 voteI recently went to the abandoned Brach's Candy Factory, 401 N. Cicero Ave., Chicago, IL. At the time of its closing in 2004, it was the largest candy factory in the world. Although it has only been three years since it closed, its interior condition has quickly deteriorated. The factory is easy to get into the plant via a noticeable break in the fence and is located on Chicago's West Side near the intersection of N. Cicero Ave. and W. Lake Street. You can use Chicago's rapid transit system by taking the Green Line: Lake, getting off at the Cicero station. The station is on the northeast corner of Lake and Cicero and the candy factory is off to the left of the station. You may find homeless people in some of the rooms of the factory. We did, but they just said hello as we walked by.
