Jonker Street, Melaka

10 comments and 5 votesIf you are looking at a list of “must-go” places in Melaka, you will find that Jonker Street will always be at the top of the list. It is also a highly recommended place for those who would like to discover Melaka in an interesting and interactive way. If you are planning to spend an hour there before hopping to another major attraction, think twice as it is not an ordinary “street” – one can spend a whole day there just to check out the attractive shops along the street.

Argus C3 "The Brick"

by dirklancer

8 comments and 4 votesThe Argus C3, a range finder camera affectionately known by its many lovers as "the Brick", is an artifact right out of the early mid-19th century machine age. The front of the camera is covered in gears, and it could easily pass for a highly specialized scientific measuring device at first glance. It is constructed of heavy Bakelite and metal, so you can guess that it's about as heavy as a brick...hence the nickname.

1 voteI am currently living in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I am lucky enough to live in San Telmo, a gorgeous old neighborhood. My favorite place is the antique market on Plaza Dorrego. It takes place on Sundays, and is located on Plaza Dorrego, although the magic starts at the moment you walk down my street, which is called Defensa.

Shao He Ting Antique Market

1 voteChaoheting Market originated from a fair called Lung-an Market, run by the Taipei City Government. It was full of stalls selling all kinds of meat, fish, and fowl. Located in the heart of one of the most popular tourist areas in Taipei city, Shao He Ting sells a wide variety of antiques from Taiwan's Japanese colonial era (1895-1945). These include ticket stubs, movie posters, toys, jade ornaments and store signs, as well as larger items like tables, chairs and cabinets. Every weekend, this market is crowded with antique dealers from all over the island, as well as local residents and tourists. I like old lights here, they are so special and old. But I have too many lights in my room now.
