Catedral de Sal, Zipaquira, Colombia

2 comments and 3 votesAn underground cathedral built entirely out of salt... lick the walls if you don't believe it. It's somehow hard to take pictures in this place, you need long exposures, or maybe high ISO film.

St Cuthberts Church

7 comments and 5 votesUnused, Locked and likely to become another block of flats. Small and sprightly this church stood for so much in it’s parish in previous years, and without it the community would be totally different. It’s just a shame it’s going to fall into disrepair!!!

Hallgrímskirkja, Iceland

by wil6ka

6 commentsSince Reykjavik is a very small capital you really can walk to Hallgrímskirkja on foot. And hence it’s so huge you probably see the tip of it from every point of the city. Interesting how the Icelandic people deal with religion. Surely it means a great deal to the people if you live on a cold rock with nothing on but ice. But with their special and awkwardly great sense for style and design they have set their mark even on the architecture of sacred places.

Fáskrúðarbakkakirkja, Iceland

12 comments and 1 voteThe National Church of Iceland or as we Icelandic tourist say "Þjóðkirkjan", is truly Lutheran. As so there is not much of the glamor and the whole „passion of the Christ“ hollywoodesque show you maybe would expect in catholic regions. No, Iceland is rough and plain and so are the churches.

Manaoag Church

3 commentsThe town of Manaoag Pangasinan was named after a legend of a man who was walking along a field and heard a sweet voice calling. When he trailed the voice, he saw an image of a woman with a rosary in one hand and a child in her arms standing on a branch of a tall tree. After the apparition, the tree was taken down and carved into the image of the Virgin Mary. Thus the name, "Manaoag" which is "man" meaning "to" prefixed to "taoag" meaning "to call" is given to the place where the apparition of Mary occurred. Some versions of the story say that it was lightning that struck the tree down but it left an imprint of Mary’s face on it.

Spanish Wedding

by wil6ka

2 votesI haven't been to many weddings, yet. Still I have to say, that this is increasing lately, and that makes me worry;) One of the latest was an Andalucian wedding in Spain. Quite a bunch of people came from all over Spain and Europe to the tiny town of Tossa de Mar, which is perfecto for the romantic side of klife. The streets are narrow and as old as the eglisas.
