I really struggled for inspiration for my last month's CitySlicker article, and as a result ended up not writing one. I decided to do it today after having a think about it again - so here it is, my CitySlicker article relating to something literary.

I use to read a lot. When I was a child, I read books like there was no tomorrow. Of course, I did not understand everything, but I kept reading and looking things up in the encyclopedia set my parents had gotten for me as a child. My main genres were science fiction and memoirs. Books are great because they tested your imagination and would provide fodder for you to create a world in your mind. Pictures work in a similar matter as books, but without the text, you have basically just an image or several images telling a story.

It all started with an idea; that this summer, my friends and I would take a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. What was at first just a plan, quickly turned into a real adventure. This is the story of my endless, analogue summer with my two film-loving best friends.

Zandvoort is a beautiful place at the coast of the Netherlands. It’s only about 20 minutes away from Amsterdam. I remember the visits we made here when I was still a kid, back when Zandvoort was the beach for people who had little less to spend. Currently Zandvoort is more of a hip place where everyone can be found though.

In the province of Utrecht there is a little town called Doorn. In this town, there is an extraordinary castle named ‘House Doorn’. My boyfriend grew up in this area and I had never been there. On one of the first autumn days this year he decided to show me around the Doorn estate.

Since my boyfriend is a huge sailing fanatic, and I enjoy lounging around on boats, we decided to do one more boating session before he moves to the USA. His dad, a sailing mate, brother, and brother's girlfriend joined us and it was a great sunny day on the water!
