A nice detour from the insanity of Los Angeles - just north of Pasadena and south of the San Gabriel Mountains, is a small cemetery established in 1882 - Mountain View Cemetery. It is also the final resting place of the original Superman, George Reeves.

This is the oldest cemetery in Los Angeles and it is hidden in one of the busiest areas of the city. If you want a quieter alternative to karaoke and Korean BBQ, take a trip to Koreatown and wander amongst the ancient headstones of Rosedale Cemetery, established in 1884.

Dark wisps of hair masking faces, seen drowning in silent screams, rusty, bloody hues, and vignettes. These are the works of Israeli artist Yell Saccani, who composes and expresses her innermost feelings through her photographs that channel famous expressionistic paintings.

September 2011, Marije (s0y) and I finally took the trip we wanted to do for so long, visit Ukraine, Kiev and in particular, the 30km exclusion zone around Chernobyl, with the ghost town of Prypiat. When I saw the bumper carts, I almost cried. Afterwards, we were exhausted; there was so much to take in. And bringing too many cameras is never a good idea. ;)

Just because the Halloween is over, it doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to be affected by anything scary and all kinds of spookiness must come to an end. But no! We still got an announcement to make so don’t dare close your eyes!

In the heart of one of the world's most haunted cities, there lies an array of beautiful above ground cemeteries. These are two of my favorites located in Mid City and Lakeview, New Orleans.

I'm not a believer in ghosts or the supernatural but one photo I have taken certainly made me look twice. I have considered a logical explanation but prefer not to think too hard and enjoy the mystery surrounding it. Is it a ghost? Have a look and make your own mind up.

Built as a lunatic asylum and later modified to be used as a clinical facility it is now empty, waiting for a new use. Until then, everything waits in a morbid slumber.

In search of abandoned buildings for a Lomo session, I came across the Schöning Villa in nearby Vlotho. During my research on this mansion I have, in addition to the history of the villa, also came across another name - "House of Pain". On a sunny Sunday, Evalina and I made our way to explore the "horror" villa.

A walk through an allegedly haunted mill building. Once a booming textile mill, the Washington Street Mills is an amazing place for beautiful and spooky shots. In spite of the refurbishments that have already taken place, it's still as creepy as ever.

Last Sunday, I drove to Albenga to take photos of the abandoned factory that I always see when I enter the town. With my Holga camera and SX-70 in tow, I spent half an hour there just taking photos. It was a good spot for picture taking on a gloomy Sunday.

With autumn closing in and the nights getting cold and dark it's about time to shiver a little more- both from the cold and from a picture journey through the abandoned hospital complex at Beelitz-Heilstätten...

Being born on Halloween itself and growing up in Germany's Black Forest certainly adds to the spookiness factor surrounding Alex Binder. For All Hallow's Eve, we asked Mr. Binder a couple of questions regarding his otherworldly work and his experience with the occult!
