Retronaut is a website dedicated to archiving weird, wonderful and historic photographs from the last 200 years. Amongst this vast collection you can expect to see photos of London from 1913, raunchy fashion shoots from the 1920’s, futuristic designs from 1962 and everything you could possibly imagine in between. This week we have dug through the archives and found some rather cute black cat auditions in Hollywood from 1961.

Those who are superstitious might veer away from these photos of a Hollywood callout for black cats but we can't resist the furry felines! Lucky for us LIFE was able to archive these exquisite black and white photos by Ralph Crane from 1961.

If you want your grandchildren to see your film photos, there are several factors that you must take into consideration to preserve the original state of your pictures. Here are some tips that could help you preserve your film photographs.

After shooting 10 rolls worth of pictures, I discovered that it's not that practical to have all those plastic sheets with negatives lounging around. I wanted to scan some negatives again and had to fight myself through a jungle of images to find out which group they were in. And it's always the one you check last...
-
I have my film rolls sorted neatly inside my refrigerator but as soon as I go outside to shoot, whether on a whole day or on a weekend, I usually take extra films with me. In minutes, the film's order just turns into a total chaos, not to mention the loose rolls inside my bag. Don't you get annoyed when this happens? I finally found a simple remedy for this. Read on.
-
After developing my 20th roll or so I realised I would need to come up with some sort of system for having some kind of order to my negatives! After a bit of searching and asking around I found negative sleeves to solve my problem.
-
One thing that really makes me angry is the fact of knowing that I have something but I can´t find it by the chaos and the disorder. It was crazy trying to find a negative to re-scan, make copies on paper or simply see it. It was virtually impossible to find it immediately. It took hours and hours looking in all places to have the negative. The situation was desperate.
-
Imagine when you want to look for that roll of film from a special trip or event you went to a few years ago and you realize that you have tens or even hundreds of rolls stashed in your storage area. Each one of them needs to be taken out and painstakingly gone through just to look for that one roll.
