In the summer of 1982, five buddies traveled to Copco Lake, California on vacation. They took a group photo while sitting on a fence, smugly showing off their pet cockroach in a glass jar. It was the beginning of a long-lasting habit of photography and friendship—going on the same trip with the same people and taking the same photo—which they've kept up for a solid 30 years! Shooting on the beach is always fun...the white sand, blue sky, the living sea. I was born near the beach in the southern part of Texas that is often referred to as "The Third Coast". Soon after that, my parents moved us all to Riverside, California and then finally to San Diego, California where I spent most of my childhood.

California life is pretty sweet! I was lucky enough to briefly pop over there last year for work for 2 1/2 weeks, and my favorite beach location has to be Santa Monica, for it’s beach, pier, and great photography opportunities!
