This week we had some issues with our photo server. On Wednesday black thumbnails appeared for some photos and today we had to shut down the upload function for a short period. In this article we will try to explain what happened.

Lomography Playground is the new place where we put all our online experiments, in progress features and sneak previews for you to play around with.

Today while working on a new way to show photos and locations on a map we found out that our "put on a map" feature has its six month anniversary. Well, we don't celebrate every feature, but in those six months 211,806 photos have been geotagged and we've made a short (very short) animation to show how the worldmap was filled.

Here's another new feature: we've added keyboard navigation to our photos for faster browsing and liking. So if you are left handed like me you can hold now a coffee mug in one hand, three fingers of your right hand on the keyboard and navigate like Fred Astaire…

Lomography is a great place to meet like minded people – to stay in touch you can use messages on our site and see them in the (busy) activity stream. But sometimes these messages get lost among all the likes and comments – that's where our new (beta) feature comes into place.
