In New Zealand, we are blessed with a special sort of light. More often than not, you need to choose a slower film, even on cloudier days, to cope with the glare and make sure you get good even photos. Lomography CN100 is a good, sensibly-costed solution for good, even contrast and color.

Hamburg is dominated by water. This is also reflected in the architecture of the city. The latest example: Dockland, the ferry landing of the same name.

I have used a few rolls of the Kodak Elitechrome EB (35mm, 100 ISO) recently and I am never ever disappointed with the results. It has rapidly become one of my favourite films to use, especially as it won me a prize!

Florida is a well-known vacation destination for those in search of the sun's sunny warm rays. However, not all beaches in Florida are created equally. Hoga is a beautiful, tiny island in Indonesia. There are about 30 local families living in a small fishing village and a community of Operation Wallacea students doing marine research. I was lucky enough to spend a week diving and snorkeling there in the summer of 2009.

Lounge on the Farm is a local music festival on Merton Farm in Canterbury which caters to all ages. Held every July, we were able to enjoy good weather the last two years (although maybe it was too hot in 2010?!) The festival is all about good up-and-coming acts, comedy, and film with many stages hosting different types of music with the largest crowd gathering in the cow shed. It’s a family friendly, all ages’ festival with something for everyone.
