Half of my family are from Kent, England and it's only in recent years that I have been able to visit. I've been there three times and I stayed at my Aunt and Uncle's house for part of the time. They live on the sleepy isle of Sheppey in south-eastern England, and I managed to stumble upon an analogue lover's dream while on a walk there one day.

There are a number of coastal towns to visit on the East coast in North Yorkshire for a nice relaxing break in the English summer, but if you want somewhere quiet and quaint, then I can only recommend the lovely little town of Filey.

Skipton used to be mine and the other half's go-to date spot. I don't know what it is about the quaint little town that we have always loved so much. This time when we visited, it was for an afternoon of shopping in the springtime sun.

The shambles is a famous 14th Century cobbled street in York. Based in the heart of the city this is one not to be missed.
