I had a chance to spend a summer volunteering at the Design Exchange in Toronto. I had no idea this was an internationally known non-profit museum dedicated to all forms of design, but what it does best is represent Canadian design to the rest of the world.

Want to be the center of attention? Yonge-Dundas Square is the place to be. It is literally the heart of the city and wouldn’t be mistaken for anything other. Everyone congregates here, no matter what the season. It’s a great place to meet and see friendlies, not-so-friendlies, and the occasional flashmob.

Best known for its skating rink, Nathan Philips Square is the place for civic activities, special events, or just a place to hang out. Right in front of City Hall, there’s no other place to be than here when you want to feel what it’s like to be in Toronto.

Everyone goes shopping, whether it be to splurge your most recent paycheck, to take in the latest trends, to do some walking exercise, or just to buy the necessities. Toronto Eaton Centre is the one-stop shop for everything. Seriously.

Just smell that creativity in the air. West Queen West is my go-to place when I’m in need of an artistic revival. Running from Bathurst to Gladstone Avenue, there is plenty to lay your eyes, hands, and taste buds on.
