I absolutely love living in Leeds and one of my favorite buildings in the city is Leeds Town Hall and I particularly enjoy exploring the area around the Town Hall as well. The Town Hall itself was built between 1853 and 1858 on Park Lane, which is now the Headrow towards the top end of the city. It is one of the biggest - and tallest town halls in England and was designed by Cuthbert Brodrick.

In Summer 2011 I was off to New York from London to compete at the United Nations Congress Ju Jitsu Championships. Set up for a win. Unfortunately my time in the Big Apple coincided exactly with the first Hurricane to hit New York in what seemed like forever. The competition was cancelled, a lot of training and preparation was wasted, but all was not lost as while there I fell in love - with analogue photography.

"Man with a Movie Camera" is an experimental, silent documentary film. It's experimental in that its director, Dziga Vertov, uses almost all the cinematic techniques in the book, ranging from double exposure to footage played backwards! It's a documentary as it shows urban life in various Soviet cities, and contains no actors! What a historical gem!

It began at a workshop in the Tenerife Design Festival last year. It was called "Typogracphic Safari." You had to scour the whole village of Garachico (in the north of the island) looking for letters to shoot them. But they couldn't be letters written in posters or signs; you had to look for objects or compositions that form letters.

September 2011, Marije (s0y) and I finally took the trip we wanted to do for so long, visit Ukraine, Kiev and in particular, the 30km exclusion zone around Chernobyl, with the ghost town of Prypiat. When I saw the bumper carts, I almost cried. Afterwards, we were exhausted; there was so much to take in. And bringing too many cameras is never a good idea. ;)

Just minutes from downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota sits the crown jewel of urban exploration in the Twin Cities – Hamm's Brewery. I've done a lot of urban exploration*, from drains and caves to abandoned factories and hospitals, but Hamm's Brewery is by far my favorite.
