Very recently, I visited Corregidor, an island which sits strategically at the mouth of Manila Bay. I came wanting to know more about the island's history, marvel at its scenic views, and of course, visit its famed lighthouse.

For quite some time now, I have been fascinated with lighthouses -- lonely sentinels of the sea that welcome ships as they approach harbors and bid them farewell in their seafaring journey. I've been so fascinated in fact that I decided to visit as many lighthouses in my country as I can. In this mini-series I call Beacons Beckoning, I will document my progress in this wanderlust-driven endeavor.

So far, my Spinner rolls always seem to be shot at times when I really want to fully document the place I am at, as I may not be able to go back there again. There is something about being in the photograph yourself, surrounded by what is going on around you that calls for this camera to be what I think of as more of a documentary device than other cameras. There are many things I love about this camera, but one big one that I do not. Read about it after the jump!

For some reason, lighthouses are just simply beautiful. Perhaps it's due to the significance behind a beacon of light or perhaps, it's the sheer size and shape that just sticks out from its surroundings. Diamond Head Lighthouse is no exception.

At the southern tip of India your Lomo camera will freak out by capturing some of the greatest nature and beach attractions: a lighthouse surrounded by uncountable coconut trees, a tropical beach, hundreds of craws, lots of people, boats, fishermen at work, and last but not least, amazing sunsets.

With tenement housing, light industrial buildings, and a sea view of luxury properties all mixed together in the same area, Tai Kok Tsui is a very busy and crowded place in Hong Kong.
