    Souqs- Magic Labyrinth of Marrakech

Souq means "market". They occupy quite a big part of the Medina (old town) and may be a bit problematic to navigate, even if you posses a good map. Street names are a rare thing to see in Marrakech in general, and here just forget it, you just go with the flow.

Spitalfields Market - Shopping Mecca of East London

On a border of the Financial City with its skyscrapers, there is Spitalfields Market from which the East End starts. 50 steps away from busy Liverpool Street Station, and you are already lost in narrow and curvy streets which haven't changed through centuries.

Papeete, the Big City of French Polynesia

If you have the chance one day to visit French Polynesia, the city of Papeete will be the first place you'll see and visit. If you expect the mythical image of Tahiti, you'll be disappointed, because it's not the right place for this! But there are other things to see...

"Frrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiischer Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisch, Leudddddddddde", "Schoooooooooooooooooooooooooookolade" and "Käääääääääääääääääääääässe ohne Ende". You don't have to understand a word, but you might get a feeling for the volume of the vendors at the fish market in Hamburg. It don't matter what you buy it is all about the experience of shopping.

Hout Bay Fish Market, Cape Town

A fish business initiated from a converted bus. First, you see the ocean and hear seagulls. Then, you feel a strong fishy smell. This is it, the Snoekies Fish Market. Founded in Hout Bay sixty years ago, it still serves fresh seafood and “fish and chips” meals in their cafe.

Bay Harbour Market, truly organic and creative! I heard a lot about The Old Biscuit Mill Market of Cape Town, but I was glad we went to Bay Harbour Market instead. It truly has a community spirit and a very relaxed atmosphere, with almost no tourists at all.

El Cabanyal: A Former Fishermen's Quarter in Valencia, Spain

First there was a fishermen's village, then there was a spa, and now I say, 'enough is enough, let's declare this place a national heritage site!' Valencia has developed into one of Spain's coolest cities but some of the old areas are under constant threat.

    Pike Place Public Market (Seattle)

I can´t really say something about public market culture in the US, but I reckon it is everywhere different, hence the very 50 states all have a different history and flavor. I personally dig the coasts the most and therefore I was quite impressed by the fish market at the Pike Place Market.

    Kosovo Markets

Kosovo is calm at the moment, but you never know. The southern part of Serbia is always on the threshold of trouble. Because 90 percent of all kosovars in Albania naturally seek for independence, but this is a long way to go. Meanwhile Kosovo is a shopping paradise for soldiers, politicians and whoever sets his foot on a friendly market. They offer great skullcaps, Adidas-shoes for a handful of dollars and they have a huge industry of barber-shops! And they barb as hell, every hairsection you could imagine with the sharpest knives around and with the most exciting feeling, that life comes and life goes...
