Q&A: Blurred and Washed out Shots

Q: Help! I’m getting a lot of blurred and washed out day and night shots. Do you think my Diana Mini Petite Noire is broken? Or haunted?

A: Hello there! If you noticed that you have blurred or washed outs shots whether the sun is shining or you went on a midnight Lomowalk, you must first check if the shutter of your camera is working. Just open the camera back, advance the film and trigger the shutter, the lens should open and close in an instant.

During sunny days, always make sure that your Diana Mini is in N mode and not in B mode as this would cause the shutter to stay open for a long time and you’ll end up with ghostly shots.

When you’re out to party with your friends or just strolling to be in awe at the night sky, make sure that you are equipped with a high ISO film, a tripod mount, a flash, a camera with B mode such as the Diana Mini or a camera which allows you to have a slow shutter speed such as the LC-Wide and you’re ready to have beautiful long exposures.

Always remember that light is your best friend! :)
