A review of a slide film that's now hard to find (in Italy), but with amazing results that always leaves me speechless, even after so many years.

Hello everyone! In this article, I am introducing a slide film which is uncommon for lomographers. It is Fuji Velvia 50, as stated from the name, it is an ISO 50 slide film. I think most of the lomographers will be thinking of reddish colours when they see the word Velvia. But not for Fuji Velvia 50. The colours you will get are extremely amazing!

A while ago I ordered Fuji Velvia 50 RVP 35mm color slide film because I liked the idea of getting very fine grained pictures it promises to deliver. It is a slow speed film that, if treated with xpro, features slight to medium versatile color shifts and very saturated colors. Compared to the Velvia ISO 100's typical red and purplish hues, cross-processing the Velvia ISO 50 brings you more subtle but still distinctive results. It's not the best choice for night photography. Now, the colors that it brings is what I like about it.

Fujifilm Velvia surprised me. When I first started taking photos with rolls of slides, I tried several different rolls, among them was Velvia. When I saw the results of the pictures I had taken with this special roll, I realized that I liked it a lot and just fell in love with this slide--its color and texture.

Fuji Velvia 50 is one of those films that I feel is timeless. However, I haven’t even had the chance to process a roll as it was intended, through E-6 processing. It produces great results from a daylight film even in overcast conditions.

The Fuji Velvia 50 is great for nature and landscape photography. But when it comes to Lomography and shooting like you don't care, this film can really tune in some fine colors especially when cross-processed. Expect to see a face full of jaundice (yellowish skin) and lights that are made up of greenish delights!

Under the right condition, this slide film sure is one heck of a crazy film to cross process!

Don't be afraid, using this film won't expose you to gamma rays and turn you into a huge green super hero who would probably follow an anger management course... You'll rather be surprised by the green smoothness this film has to offer.

Fuji Velvia 50 is the first-ever slide film I bought, and after shooting a roll of it using my Holga CFN, I immediately got hooked. The vibrant colors and over-the-top saturation that it delivers are to die for!

Although it's ISO might seem slightly intimidating, with hard work and concentration this film will produce amazing images no matter what camera you use.
