The Little Wonder A.K.A. The Lomo LC-A+

When I first found out about Lomography it was hard to miss all of the buzz about the Lomo LC-A+. Not really understanding or knowing what was so special about this camera, I decided to order one and find out for myself...that's when the magic began.

If you are a Lomographer, then chances are, you have heard about the Lomo LC-A+! It’s a little camera that goes back to the roots of Lomography. One day while I was at work in the game room at my college, I decided to take my paycheck and order one! Why not?

The wait for it to arrive was painful, even though it didn’t take long to get here, I was just so excited to see what this little camera was all about. In the meantime I watched every Lomography video I could find online about the camera and even found a neat documentary about the roots of Lomography. In effect, the LC-A+ helped me learn so much more about Lomography than I knew at the time because I was super impatient for my camera to arrive.

Once it came in the mail I was pretty stoked about the packaging that it comes in. A little wooden crate was sitting before me and I could wait no longer to see what was inside! I opened it up, for some reason I thought that the little wrapper that the lanyard strap came in was a piece of candy, so I gave that to my brother and moments later he brought it back to me and said it was not candy, but instead a lanyard “Haha”.

The camera was out of the box, film loaded, and ready to go in moments. I shot my first roll almost all indoors, keep in mind this was when I was almost brand new to the world of Lomography. Here’s the results of my first roll.

As you can see, the color is a little “orange”, but the lighting was super low and I am actually pleased with how the shots turned out. Naturally, the more you use a camera and become acquainted with how it works, the better shots you can get. My next roll was much better!

The more I use this camera, the more that I understand that it does all of the work for you. Focusing is a breeze once you get a basic understanding of how it works. It’s super simple and get the camera ready to go, just switch the lever at the bottom of the camera and the lens is exposed and ready to shoot! It’s a pretty fast camera and it has brilliant judgement of aperture since that is automatic with this camera. The next roll of shots that I took with this camera was at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. That’s when this camera really showed me how magical it really is.

It truly captured my experience as nothing short of enchanting. I have grown to love and trust my LC-A+ and it is my number one go-to camera when I need something that I can rely on for great results and ease of use.
