Fuji Silvi 1000 LS

Last year, my friend Chris came to my home and brought a small compact camera that he borrowed from his older brother. It was a Fuji Zoom Date. I don't know what type it is but it is similar, but not the same with the camera that I will review now. Please say hello to Fuji Silvi 1000 LS!

As he talked about his older brother’s Fuji Zoom Date, he offers me to buy another Fuji compact camera which is Fuji Silvi 1000 LS. The day after I went to @ping-junior’s camera shop, there were several packages of Fuji Silvi 1000 LS. Anthony told me that Fujifilm in Bandung placed them in the warehouse, so I have to check every one of them. After checking one by one, I finally got my Fuji Silvi 1000 LS! It’s small, compact, silver, and it looks like a digital camera, which it certainly is not! Why would I want to buy a digital camera anyway??

Above were my firsts shots using this camera. The lens I must say is charming! Well, I don’t know, and I’m not an expert of lenses, but one thing is for sure, Fuji knows how to make great lenses. The lens is Super-EBC Fujinon Zoom 28-100mm, so it can zoom in and zoom out. This feature is great for a lazy person like me, because I sometimes get really lazy when walking in the streets, and there’s a great moment but I have to capture it, so using the zoom feature will certainly help me in the future.

This is a compact camera with such amazing features such as auto exposure and other “auto” features, but you can change the setting by just clicking the button on the camera. Maybe Fuji Natura Classica users know this and in my opinion, Fuji has a great line of great compact cameras, but all I know is I’m using Fuji Silvi 100 LS and dreaming of owning the great Fuji Natura Classica. So back to the setting thing. You could change the setting to AUTO and that classic icon of Sunny, Cloudy, then shooting with flash, and shooting people at night with flash (that’s my favorite setting). Speaking of AUTO, the camera automatically fires flash, so I always turn off the flash if I use the AUTO feature.

There’s another feature that I love the most about this camera. The remote! Yes you can use the remote to shoot! It automatically replaces the function of cable release and enables lazy persons like me to shoot myself or shoot friends with the remote! My dear friend @istionojr said this to me about the remore “push the remote, let the shutter open, and capture the love!” Perfectly said!

After two rolls of colors negative films, I decided to put my favorite Lucky SHD 100 which is a classic black and white film, to this camera. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that another feature is you can place the date on each shot or if you hate it, you can always set off the date but I love to place date in every shot because it will remind me about the moment. This is ideal and essential for documenting my every day life.

If that’s not enough, I will put a selected photos in my review here so you can see the potential of this camera. With or without flash, day and night. You name it!

Also it is said that this camera is Made in Indonesia and I checked it out! It is Made In Indonesia! I checked the bottom of the camera: Fuji Photo Film Co. LTD. Tokyo, Japan . MADE IN INDONESIA. I have no idea where the factory in Indonesia is, but it’s exciting to use this camera knowing it is made in my own country. Quite a random fact! I wish Fuji also produces slide films in Indonesia too so I could find Fujichrome easily. To close this camera review, I wanted to say that I don’t know other types of Fuji Zoom Date, and don’t know exactly the specifications on each types but I use Fuji Silvi 1000 LS, and I absolutely love it!
