A Latecomer's Review on Lomography's Diana F+!

Diana F+ Cuvée Prestige is the first 120 camera I ever had. Now, I am falling in down in love with her classic-sexy square frame and its romantic color tone.

I received the best New Year’s gift for 2013 – a Diana F+ Cuvée Prestige from Lomography Gallery Store Singapore, by winning the Christmas Corky Decoration Rumble. I was thrilled that I could not wait to try out her famous lo-fi glamour; right away, I bought a mixed-film pack from the store.

I always enjoy every minute unboxing a Lomography camera, the process involving a little bit of struggling with the secure package, yet so carefully lifting every piece of fastener and plastic, then slowly picking up the camera out from its plastic mold, and having a sniff on the fragrance. Set aside the camera, admire it with the silliest smile while you are browsing through the book accompanied with the camera. The process is indulging!

Okay, let’s get back to the review. I fell in love with its beige appearance, the simple color that pleases everyone. In order to get familiarized with the Diana F+, I registered and participated in the workshop " held by LGS Singapore. That was when my Diana F+ began to digest its first roll of film, an ISO 100 Lomography Color Negative film.

The pictures all came out with a vintage feel, with vignettes and little brushed out colors. There’s also a slight contrast but not too much. It can do MX with little finger-lift effort, no MX button, no shutter lock.

I brought the camera back to my 100-year-old secondary school, loaded with black and white 400; everything seems back to the olden days. The images resemble to what I saw from the school’s history bulletin, but with the addition of new buildings and students.

Then I tried the last roll from the mixed pack, X-Pro Slide 200 at the Singapore Botanical Garden. By doing cross-process, the greenery stands out of its shadow. I also tried out the pinhole function of Diana F+ to capture the wide angle view of the pond.

So far, I have enjoyed very much with Diana F+. I am ready to discover more talents from this versatile lady, with different accessories and films. Thank you, LGS Singapore XOXO!

The Diana F+ is a new twist on the ‘60s classic cult camera. Famous for its dreamy and soft-focused images, the Diana F+ is now packed with extra features such as panorama and pinhole capabilities. Available in our Online Shop.
